Discover ancient ruins and learn the history of the Zapotec people. One of the oldest cities in the America's, for a thousand years the rulers of Monte Alban extracted wealth from the plains below.

Situated on a leveled mountain top, with it's panoramic view of the surrounding Oaxaca Valley, Monte Alban once covered over 25 square miles and was the principal ceremonial site of the Zapotec empire. While many areas have yet to be excavated, the ruins encompass enormous plazas, numerous pyramids, a ball court, a network of underground tunnels, and an abundance of dank tombs.

This is an overnight tour that is located just 20 minutes from southwest of Oaxaca and may be combined with the Overnight in Oaxaca Tour.
